Rice Lake Area Trails and Trail Systems...
 
Wild Rivers Trail - Map (Open 24/7/365 for ATVing!)

This trail originates and continues north through Barron, Washburn and Douglas Counties to Solon Springs. (Approximately 62 miles) Open to snowmobiling whenever snow covered.

 

Tuscobia Trail
A trail for all time. A mix of history and scenic beauty, the Tuscobia Trail is a 74 mile abandoned railroad grade which starts just north of Rice Lake.
 
 
Ice Age National Scenic Trail 
Barron County section of a 1000 mile trail that outlines some of the most dynamic glacial geology in Wisconsin. Establishment of the trail is a joint effort of the Ice Age Park & Trail Foundation, the National Park Service, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Interpretive Center offers exhibits on Wisconsin's glacial past.

Pipestone Quarry Trails

With 3 marked routes, this trail in intended for fat tire bikers of intermediate ability and above. It is also ideal for hiking, skiing and snowshoeing.  Now privately owned, the quarry contains a wealth of red, soft rock which was used for centuries as a source of "pipestone" carved into pipes by members of the north and western tribes. According to legend this is the place referred to indirectly in Longfellow's "Hiawatha" as the source. Near Rice Lake (Not Accessible By Car)  www.co.barron.wi.us.
 
Barron Blue Hills
If you love the outdoors, these beautiful and varied hills are a great source for recreation. They appear blue on hazy days and are a legacy left us by the great glaciers of long ago. At one time they were actually a mountain range reaching a height of 20000 feet.

Blue Hills Trail
The Blue Hills Trail of northern Wisconsin's Rusk County began as an eleven-mile complex of loops nestled within a rolling deciduous forest cut by small streams and sprinkled with red and white pines, balsam, and hemlock. It has since been expanded to a 20-mile system that is considered one of the most scenic cross-country ski trails in the Midwest. The trail's many loops and intersections allow skiers to make their outings as long and challenging or as short and easy as desired.
 

 
 
 
Snowmobiling and ATVing in the Rice Lake Area...
Barron County offers over 250 miles of groomed snowmobile trails through some of the most beautiful north woods scenery you'll find anywhere.  The Tuscobia State Trail starts in Barron County and offers 76 more miles of groomed trails to Park Falls.  The Wild Rivers Trail goes from Rice Lake's north city limits 97 miles to Superior, W. Multi-use, groomed snowmobile trail.  3 Miles north of Rice Lake intersects with Tuscobia Trail.  We suggest that you check with your local motel operator or the Chamber of Commerce for up-to-date reports on the snow cover and the conditions of the trails. 

THE SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN THE RICE LAKE AREA ARE:  Partially Open

Barron County snowmobile trail system is CLOSED.

The Wild River and Tuscobia Trails also CLOSED.
